Well, I was skeptical of this item due to the low rating. These reviews I think lowered my expectation of the speaker, but I went ahead because it had all the features I needed at a decent price.Upon receipt, I read the charging instructions. I'm not sure they are clear but you need to charge the speaker with it OFF. When you plug it in, a red power light comes on, I thought that was the just a power light. This light also doubles for the charge status. Leaving the speaker alone to charge, I walked by it several times due to it's location. I noticed the light slowly changing from red to amber, and then eventually from yellow to green. You don't get the % charged lights unless the unit is on, but then it won't charge, so let it charge all the way to green, this can take overnight.Once charged I unplugged the speaker and inserted a USB drive with music. I played the music for about 2 hours, then had to leave. I then ran it for another 2 hours later. I got tired of that music so I connected it to my PC's BT and streamed music to it pretty much all the next day continuous. At 18 total hours of play time the speaker indicator was down to 50%. Well, that's plenty.The Sound: The sound is alright. Maybe I was not expecting much because of the bad reviews, but the sound is adequate. No, it's not HIFI quality sound, but it's a PA speaker not a studio monitor. This is going to be fine for PA and some background music. Now I did have a couple of 8" drivers sitting around, so I did open the case and try some different base drivers. It's really easy to pop apart removing all the screws around the perimeter and gently prying it apart, it's not glued. I did settle on a foam surround driver, it still sounded great for PA, but it gave a bit more warmth for music. The OEM driver is fine but it is a paper accordion style and is a bit stiff. Don't try to remove or look at the tweeter, it is built into the speaker horn and is one unit.This speaker worked great with my wireless mic's, it would go plenty loud at about 1/2 volume and on batterie. So I am pleased that this worked out, now if it holds up it will be fantastic.
