Tucci touts themselves as an American manufacturer, but is cryptic on their website to never actually say that the fast pitch bats are made in the USA. Dick’s lists them as made in the USA. Because of the lack of clarity, I reached out to Tucci customer service on this before placing an order, emphasizing that I was looking for a fast pitch bat fully made in the USA. Tucci responded, saying, “I can confirm that our fastpitch bats are manufactured in the United States, ensuring high-quality production standards.” However, when it arrived it had a “Made in China” sticker on it.I reached out again to Tucci about this and they clarified that only their wooden bats are made in the USA. Their composite bats are made in China. Of course they do not sell ANY wooden bats for fast pitch—so what they should have originally told me was that NONE of their fast pitch bats are made in the USA.I can appreciate a mistake, but that’s a huge one, and it’s a mistake being made to retailers as well and impacting the product information. I was willing to take a chance on an unknown premium bat from a USA maker, but I’m not willing to do that for an imported product. The price for top level fast pitch bats is insane, and I can only imagine the profit margins are very high (given that all are either fully made in China or assembled in the USA from Chinese components). At least the top names have an R&D department behind them, and have been proven to perform. There is no reason for anyone to pay top dollar for an unknown company’s bat that is made overseas. As to the bat itself, it weighed very close to spec (.1 ounces off), and the barrel measured about the same in diameter as the popular brands (only my Dirty South Bats Lady Swag (made in the USA but no longer produced) measures spot on at 2.25”). It’s a decent looking bat, but the handle ring is very thin and cheap-feeling. The assembly looks a little rough—rougher joints/adhesive not fully clean or smooth. I picked this up on Amazon for a decent discount, but if nobody told me better I’d guess it’s a sub $100 bat. I didn’t swing it or take off the wrapper, as it’s going back.
