The only reason I gave it four stars is because it’s taking a long time to break it in natural and I haven’t seen the pop in it as advertisedThe bat has clearly been used before has scuff marks all over it and on the grip tape you can clearly tell that it has been darkened by someone using batting gloves. Really sneaky business practice from Easton expected more from them.My son recently moved up to the big field after using a Louisville Prime USA composite two piece bat that had massive pop. We were looking for a composite bat that might have similar pop. We initially chose the 2020 Easton Maxum which was a one piece composite bat with a very balanced swing weight. It got great reviews but based on what I saw from my son using it, the bat just seemed dead out of the gate. After a short time the bat started to rattle and Easton ended up replacing with the 2021 Easton Maxum Ultra. I was very hesitant and got a LS Meta as a backup just in case. Cut to the chase, this Maxum Ultra is less balanced and more end loaded and is LOADED with pop. The ball just flies of my sons bat. He’s 13, around 5’4 and 125. He’s not a huge kid by any stretch, but the ball seems to come hot off his bat with every swing. My son has tried the Victus, Meta and Cat8 bats but this bat has by far the best pop. Save your money and invest in the 2021 Easton Maxum Ultra, which can be bought for about $150 less than the big boys in the composite BBCOR bat space. We have taken some time to write this review. It is always a good idea to see how a bat performs over an extended period. Does it crack? Does it break in and deaden a bit? Do any problems pop up? Also... your child could simply be going through a hot or cold streak during the evaluation. So far, we are very happy with the Easton MAXUM ULTRA - we only have positive things to say... nothing negative.Notes-- So far it has held up well. Other carbon fiber bats have a reputation for splitting or cracking but the Easton Maum Ulta has held up well.- Very large and forgiving sweet spot. Most golfers will tell you that it is nice to have a *hot* driver, but having a larger sweet spot is what will help you drive better. That is the concept behind this bat - it has plenty of pop, but it also helps to increase your barrel percentage by having a larger sweet spot.- Well balanced - admittedly this is a bit subjective, but it really seems to be well-balanced.- Very nice sound. This has more to do with the nice pleasing *pop* you get off the bat, but that sound really does help with your confidence.- No durability issues... nothing is peeling, flaking, or crackingVerdict - bats are a bit of a personal preference, but so far this one is a winner for us!This is an incredible bat. I picked this up for my son but, even though it is a bit small for me, I took a few rips with it to see how it performs. For me, a $400 bat better perform well by every standard to live up to it's value. Most don't but this Easton 2021 Maxum Ultra definitely exceed all of my expectations. It delivers a powerful swing. It is smooth through the hands and very well balanced. Making solid connection is easy as there is a giant sweet spot. I found it hot right out of the wrapper with no break-in needed. It is incredibly durable and will last for years and years. My Nephew loves this bat, fits him perfect and he’s been smoking the ball. The Maxum Ultra is basically perfect if you're after a semi-endloaded BBCOR bat. After a break-in session and some practice, me and my son are blown away. The sweet spot on this bat is massive. Hit anywhere on the barrel and the ball goes for a ride. Crazy amount of pop, and great sound. The balance is fantastic and grip feels great. Really incredible.Price is inline with similar bats from DeMarini, which is to say it's not cheap. But if you want to elevate your kid's high school game, this bat seems almost illegal with how good it is!Bat is supposed to be a dropped 3, bought a 31 drop 3, weighed 29.5 oz, not weighted correctly
