First Impression: There are a couple of exactly similar cheaper products under different names on the web page. Probably the traders all order from the same supplier and sell them under different names. This one, although a bit expensive than the rest, has a proper name, packaging and the right description. With only one unhelpful review, I took a gamble to buy it as I was impressed by the product description and picture.Description: Although a Chinese product, the finishing is exactly like in the picture, no chips, black #45 steel body and smooth. Medium weight, feels good in hand and the machining is good. Absolutely straight with the bit (not supplied) mounted. The rotating handle is fixed to the wheel, one piece and so there is less vibration when rotating. The teeth of the wheel synchronize perfectly in the groves to give a smooth flawless operation. The threads of chuck mounted perfectly on to the main body of drill. The key operates the chuck smoothly. The handle is hollow ABS plastic which is sturdy and strong to hold bits in it.There is only a tenner difference between the price of a basic electric drill and a manual one, this one is for light work around the house. I have not yet operated it but feel confident that it should be perfect for my use. Looks good, feels good and operates well. One cannot be grumpy with a product now less available and fast disappearing from High street stores.Turns freely with little play, good quality chuck though maybe a keyed chuck is OTT on a hand drill. Gears mesh with low friction. Replaces a qualcast drill I’ve 40 years that was getting stiff and tired. I was trying to get the best hand drill I could find to replace it and got this as the reviews all had reservations about the ‘premium’ ones. I think this is better than the qualcast ever was, the only thing that makes me less than 100% happy is that the main gear wheel is very slightly warped, but not enough to noticeably affect operation. Its nearly excellent.I have been looking for a double pinion drill read recs o ordered one very dissatisfied as it continually jams. I have a single pinion which worked better. Very dissapointed as I really needed one for fine hole drilling. Maybe I was unlucky with this one I did notice severs companies selling what actually look the same at differing prices ???(ITEM RETURNED) FOR CREDITI have been seeking for an solid egg beater as part of my tool so I may use it in my future career and this beats all others I have seen on Amazon until I can restore originals, I have had minor issues with chuck, but working with it has been so thrilling and makes wood working fun than standard drill. If you are on budget I suggest getting it and try it yourself you will not regret it!
