My son switched from a BBCOR bat to this wood bat for a wood bat tournament, and then liked it so much that he ended up batting with the wood bat for the rest of the summer season. Some details on the player for comparison. My son is 5'10" and about 160 lbs. He is a line drive hitter. The bat is well-balanced. This means that the weight of the bat is more evenly distributed throughout the length. This can be contrasted against an end-weighted bat, where the weight tends to be concentrated more towards the far end (you may notice end-weighted bats having a thinner-seeming handle while this bat seems a little more evenly-distributed in its dimensions). In a balanced bat like this, there tends to be a slightly longer sweet spot and it feels lighter than an end-weighted bat. The trade-off is that it does not have the same moment of inertia as an end-weighted bat.The variance is slight, but this bat will tend to be better for a batter who is hitting line drives for singles and doubles, rather than trying to hit bombs for home runs. This summer my son regularly saw pitching in the 80s in PG tournaments (up to 88 MPH). As a line-drive hitter he found that the balance of the bat allowed him to get around on the ball much sooner than with a more end-weighted bat, and he was regularly barreling-up the ball. He found it easy to control and was able to hit the ball to oppo and pull with no problem. He said that it definitely swings differently than the metal bat.Son didn’t get to use it for long, broke in half about a week after receiving it.Nice bat! My 16 year old son hit back to back home runs with his first 2 hits with this bat. He had the JB19 model and it was a great bat and finally snapped at the end of the season. This bat has a slightly thicker handle and shorter sweet spot than the JB19 but I guess that leads to a faster swing. This bat is balanced and has significant pop. My son liked it as much as his composite bat.Excellent product.
