Spent some time looking for a bat that complied with the rules of our local 7U rec league. Most boys my son's age are using BB bats but aren't legal because the drop is too great. It might seem like an insignificant thing, but I felt that by allowing my son to use an illegal bat I was sacrificing my integrity and teaching him to sacrifice his. Because of this, I had to purchase a bat that is several ounces heavier than what he is used to. It's taken him some time to get used to it, but he's coming around. I've taught him to choke up and even start his swing earlier. He's adjusting. I think that once he gets enough swings under his belt with this bat and builds up the arm strength it'll be perfect for him. It's close enough to perfect already. The ball comes off the bat well. The larger sweet spot helps build confidence, which was my biggest reason in making the purchase. When focused, my son's form is really good, so I wanted to reward him with a bigger barrel to help increase his chances of making contact now that he's in a 3 strikes and out league. I would recommend this bat for anyone not wanting to spend the crazy money that bats can cost (we're at the stage of buying $300 bats for my HS sophomore daughter).So far, this bat is wonderful. We got it the day of my son's first Babe Ruth (13 - 15 yo) game ever. First time playing on a 90' field, No practice with a big barrel bat or this bat prior to the game. My son is 109# and 5'3". He hit a solid mid outfield hit for a single. On the little league field, it probably would have been a double or triple. My son says it is heavier, and it is. But it feels well balanced and seems to do the job!Great bat so far. My 13yr old son loves it.It came in on time. Packaged great. It is exactly what my son wanted.
